Heritage Book Highlighted in Humanities Texas Newsletter

Pflugerville: A Heritage to Remember

The Friends of the Pflugerville Community Library has partnered with local organizations to collect personal accounts of life in the Pflugerville community over the past 100 years. Partners are: Heritage House Partners; City of Pflugerville, Pflugerville Community Library, Pflugerville Genealogy Society and Pfriends Pfor Pflugerville's Pfuture.

                  imageInterviews with fourteen families who were reared in Pflugerville or the surrounding areas have been video-taped. Descendants of African-American, Hispanic, and German families who settled in the area are included in the interviews that are conducted by local volunteers.

Humanities Texas logo The original interviews will be made available for view at the Pflugerville Community Library, Heritage House Museum and the Austin History Center. A book has been published to include excerpts from the interviews and photos collected from the families. Humanities Texas, the state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities, awarded a grant to the Friends to partially fund the publication.
